Some input actions with the keyboard and mouse are common to some or all editors:
* The hotkeys corresponding to the actions of the {{Literal|Info}} editor menus are, usually, '''global'''. This means that they have effect no matter which editor has the focus.
* Hotkeys are usually designed to mantain their meanings across editors.
* Many editors use {{Shortcut|wheel}} as a means to '''zoom in or out''' of its content. {{Shortcut|pad+}} and {{Shortcut|pad-}} will also achieve the same effect. If zoom can be done in two axes independently (vertical and horizontal), both axes will be affected equally.
* In editors where '''zoom''' can be done in '''two axes''' independently, clicking with {{Shortcut|ctrl|mmb}} and dragging will affect the zoom: vertical and horizontal movements of the mouse will affect the vertical and horizontal zoom scale respectively.
* In sidebars and editors containing a '''series of panels''', you can '''zoom''' in/out clicking with {{Shortcut|ctrl|mmb}} and dragging sideways.

When scroll bars are present several actions can be taken on them:
* Clicking and dragging with {{Shortcut|lmb}} on the scroll gadget in the bar moves it and scrolls the contents accordingly.
* Clicking with {{Shortcut|lmb}} above or below the scroll gadget takes a scroll step up or down respectively.
* Clicking with {{Shortcut|mmb}} anywhere on the bar takes the scroll gadget to that specific point.
* A small red line in the scroll bar indicates the position of the text cursor, if applicable.

In most editors, {{Shortcut|space}} pops the full operator list, which you can refine by entering text in the search box. Once located your desired operator you can execute it by selecting its corresponding entry.
