Noob- Version 2.49a - Applying modifier "object offset" with "Empty" (not Empty Mesh)produces strangely scaled array (scaled exponentially relative only to z and y axes).
With the existing vertical array of 20 objects selected and The "Array Offset" button depressed, as soon as I type the word "Empty" (default name for the Empty object)the array becomes scaled exponentially only along the z and y axes.
Resolved- In the "Mirror" modifier, the button marked "Mirror V" was depressed. Also, in the "Subsurf" modifier, the "Subsurf UV" button was depressed. After un-selecting these choices the array behaved correctly.
