Character Replacement

This technique describes how to create a digital character like Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean), Christopher (District 9), IronMan, etc... The whole character will be replaced maintaining the actor performance.

Shot requirements:

• No special requirements is needed but to be able to track.
• Will help if the actor dress clothes with some neutral color and adjusted to her body.

Postproduction:

• The camera will be tracked.
• A clean plate will be generated using UVProjection and a simple set reconstruction.
• The CG characted will be placed and animated duplicating the actor's movements (rotoscopy, the animation technique, not masking).
• The Actor will be erased using the Clean Plate.
• Background elements will be reconstructed to fill holes.
• Other characters can be quickly animated to create shadows and reflections, or reconstruction.
