why use just weight painting? Wouldn't it be faster/easier to use the envelopes, then apply that, and then adjust the weights?

Is there a way to convert envelopes into vertex groups, or do you mean to have both envelope and vertex group buttons selected in the Armature modifier?
I left envelopes out for two reasons: 1) I'm not that familiar with them, and 2) I couldn't get the rig to work using envelopes alone. I didn't want it to get too complicated by having to explain two different deformation methods (sorta cuts down on the fun factor having to wade through those explanations). Hopefully when I learn more I'll be able to write an add-on that shows how to use the envelope/weight paint combo.

- See this page - http://www.blender.org/cms/Armature_Envelopes.647.0.html although I can't seem to get it to work as the directions say. Hmm could be I'm misreading, or perhaps it has been broken... LetterRip 08:32, 10 October 2006 (CEST)
The paint keeps disapeering from the model and I can't reapply it, no matter what I do, I can't get it to work again. I've tried clearing, I've tried everything and it doesn't work. Any tips or tricks? Philipnova798 20:52, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
