I use Blender 2.49b. The phrase “We need to mirror the mesh, and we can do this by pressing M and selecting X Global then translate by 1 to the left.” is not clear to me. If I press M I do get a select X, Y or Z message in the message bar (below the view, where the view, select, mesh submenu usually are), but I don’t have any way to select that axis.
I think I found that by using the middle mouse button in some various places. That should have been written in the tutorial…
