The Definition of the Space Identifier section isn't accurate. You should be adding the new spacetype before the SPACEICONMAX, and changing the value of SPACEICONMAX to this new spacetype you just added.

So, for example:

enum {
	...
	SPACE_NODE,
        SPACE_DEMO,
	SPACEICONMAX = SPACE_DEMO,
/*	SPACE_LOGIC	*/
};
