Face Groups

Face Groups are essentially the same as Vertex Groups.

Creating Face Groups

To create a face group, switch to Edit Mode and select a few faces (selecting vertices or edges that make up a face works too). In the Properties Editor - Object Data context - there's a panel "Face Groups". In this you can create a new (empty) face group by clicking the '+' icon button. After the face group is created you can assign the selected faces by pressing the "Assign" button that just appeared. That's already it, you created a new face group.
