The "Data-to-IPO script" i mention can be found in http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103587&highlight=Comma+Separated+Values which converts a data file to an IPO curve. A practical use was explained in a indie digital movie that was showcased here: http://www.blender.org/features-gallery/feature-videos/?video=imaging Video by Luca Bonavita, copyright minDrones, artwork by Riccardo Covino), where the vine grows over the girls hand as she's in the woods. It was an indie movie, and they used Blender with a loaned digital move camera (I think Speilberg loaned it to them), and they wrote a script that took the data points in (i guess from the gimbals?) and made an IPO curve (probably sampled at every frame). They then assigned the IPO curve to a rig that mimiced the actual arm that the camera was mounted on, and thus able to match the Blender camera to the real camera.
