I clicked the "Discussion" link, which landed here. Hope this is the right place!

The new structure is fantastic!

I suggest the manual should be divided into sections:

  • Section I (BASICS)
  • Section II (MODELING)
  • Section III (ANIMATION)
  • Section IV (ADVANCED TOPICS)

Each section should have its own introduction, so that all the chapters in that section are logically interlinked.

As a corollary, the entire manual also needs an introduction (how its content is divided into 4 sections.) Also, explain the basics of 3D modeling and animation; and provide an overview to the reader as to how Blender implements those concepts. Currently the manual plunges directly into Blender GUI, which is too abrupt.

Finally,I notice that only static images are used everywhere. But the manual is published in HTML and pdf formats, both of which allow embedded animations (GIF/Flash). Why not use animations to show the ideas in a more intuitive way?

I also find that there is excessive text that can be easily replaced with pictures. That will not only make the manual easier to understand, but smaller too!
