Typography

It might be useful to add common English typography rules, and perhaps a link to a reference site about this subject… As I did in the french version of this page. --Mont29 14:21, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Link to figures

A short question how we link to inpage figures? So that when link is pressed we jump to the position of the figure!

Code

The code block is in its current state IMNSHO insufficient. I want syntax colouring like we had on the old wiki. I understand this is a non-issue for the end-user documentation, but since also the dev wiki has moved here I hope that at least this we can get. In the very least I'd like to see syntax colouring for C, C++, Python and Lua. Nathan Letwory

Level-1 headings

I noticed a lot of pages (including this style guide) use level-1 headings sometimes, i.e., headings =like this=. I don't think they should be used: they're big, ugly, and improper HTML (an HTML page should have only one <h1> tag). So I'm converting all the pages I see that use level-1 headings. - Furrykef 07:36, 6 June 2006 (CEST)

Somebody asked me for clarification, and I thought the response I gave might be useful here:

[...] I think it's just bad form. I've seen it suggested that an HTML page should have only one level-1 heading, and that's already used by the MediaWiki software itself when it displays the page title. Besides that, other headings are clearly subordinate to the page title, which also suggests they should be level-2. Finally, a good rule of thumb would be "do what Wikipedia does". In many ways, BlenderWiki is not like Wikipedia, and some of their core principles such as NPOV and verifiability do not apply to us. But when it comes to formatting wiki syntax, perhaps we should emulate them: you generally don't find level-1 headings on Wikipedia, so why should we use them?

I also just find the level-1 headings to be excessively big and ugly. Of course, that can be controlled via stylesheets, but considering that they're really not necessary in the first place, and we shouldn't have to modify the CSS for each theme, it's probably better to just not use them. - Furrykef 02:42, 8 June 2006 (CEST)
