First review by Kestion

I got stuck on this as a newbie to simulation/baking/animation. I'd like to see a little more detail in the steps for a newbie. Rather than "Create a simulation" give me the steps to create a simulation.

Here are my notes going through all the gory details. Remember, for newbies, switching between all the various modes can be a major obstacle to learning.

Place the camera at a good position (  »  View » Active Camera ... or 0 NumPad)

  • Check the Hair Dynamics box
  • Create the simulation

Render->OpenGL Render Animation (choose a short time length while you're learning < 60 frames)

  • Bake the Simulation

In Blender Render engine (not available in game engine) in the Particle Physics sub-panel of properties panel

Open the Cache drawer(tab?) and push the Bake button. To see the replay, open a Timeline panel and press play.

Note: Bake button changes to Free Bake once you've baked something.

  • Modify the keyframes

Switch to Particle Mode in the Object Mode popup menu. Use the comb tool to reshape your hair. (With the cursor in the timeline panel - required?) press "i" to set a keyframe.

  • Check your work

Switch to object mode. Press play button in timeline. (this is clunky workflow, is there a better way?)
