Hi OlivS,

That is great what you are doing for the Materials section. I will add a reference to the preview panel in the Panels section. --Quartz 05:27, 24 January 2006 (CET)

Hi OlivS,

I edited the section according to the templates and styles I have been using to complete the Modelling section. I am not an expert by any means in the what ever is determined to be proper English.I personally, have been trying to follow the MLA guidelines (http://www.mla.org/store/CID24/PID159) that I learned in college (1989-1994), but I am not always correct. Ironically, I usually end up attempting to follow the UK standard, but I often catch myself using USA english.

These are some of the things I noticed while I was editing (People have edited my own work and found some of the same things as well):

  • I noticed the use of "of the" and "the" appears quite often. I am guessing this is a result of you translating from your native language. It is almost as if you are prefixing Nouns with "the". As an English speaking person it seems strange. 8-)
  • references to the images themselves were missing. The manual attempts to guide the reader along, which includes indicating which images belong to which text.
  • According to the "style guide" highlighting should be rectangles that are hollow. You may want to check with the doc-board to see if translucent yellow effects are acceptable. I was rejected for suggesting something like SVG or markup because it didn't seem to provide any benefit. :(.
  • I noticed that European authors tend to use a ":" almost as a replacement for the ";" or "." sometimes.
  • As an blender author I tend to favor floating images to the "right" if it aesthetically looks better. Again this is a personal choice not one the doc-board recommends. You could take this suggestion either way.

I am not reviewing any of the links because I know you are still working on that section.

I think you are doing admirial work and the more documentors we have the sooner we will be able to get the docs up to date. 8-) You can catch me on #blenderwiki around 7pm-12midnight "GMT-5" most nights. Or you can contact me through my Talk page.

Finally, if you don't like the editing I did to the section please feel free to revert it back using the history tab. 8-)
