2.44a release

Main fixes were FFMPEG on Windows, Python 2.5 zipped archive issues on Windows, Python reference counting issues on all platforms. Since the reference counting issues are old and won't affect most users, the decision was made to to release 2.44a for Windows only, without the refcounting fixes.

A side discussion of whether to start maintaining stable branches under svn came up again during this discussion. No decision was made since it requires the manpower for someone to maintain those branches and nobody have volunteered to do this yet.

Google SoC

SoC starts officially on May 28th. Ton and Chris Want will make sure the mailing lists, svn access and branches, wiki access, etc., are set up in time for SoC participants to use.

Aaron Moore will be working on exporting API for render. Ton asked that certain other Blender users and developers with involvement in the renderer help him.

n-DOF API

Jean-Luc Peurière expressed interest in working on an API for n-DOF devices such as the 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator. He has looked at their patch and did some tests for HID, which bypassed the 3Dconnexion drivers, and will work with their developers to do the plug-in driver part.
