As for as 'Exit Behavior' on OSX, one can change Cmd + W to another shortcut combo to basically disable Cmd + W from shutting down Blender (or other programs) without save. The procedure is here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/44412/disable-command-w-in-the-terminal
