Updates
These are the most recent news about the wiki and documentation upgrade project.
14 March 2011: Latex formulas
Finally we can write formulas using markup :)
These are automatically rendered into pngs in wiki!
See Meta:Guides/Style_Guide/Formulas for a good list of examples.
07 March 2011: Memcached
We added memcached, a mechanism to cache compiled PHP, to drastically decrease the load on CPUs.
05 March 2011: User accounts
New accounts policy
Anonymous users are not allowed to edit anymore. Registration is free and automatic, but you have to confirm your email to be able to edit.
This will avoid anonymous spammers and will let us to ban a real account instead of banning IPs. If you were working with a non registered account just go in the preferences and register you email, you'll receive a confirmation email, reply and you should be done.
Old accounts deletion
Also, we are in the process of deleting unused accounts. An unused account is one which has no edits, no deleted edits, no log entries and no current/old uploads. This is because we had 40k registered, mostly inactive, users. See Special:Statistics
01 March 2011: Wiki is now under svn
We have setup a local svn:
- the online wiki is under tags/
- the new/development stuff in trunk/
This permits us to:
- try things in svn before touching the live wiki,
- keep an history of what happened,
- eventually revert bad actions,
...making our lives much easier!
20 February 2011: New mediawiki version
We upgraded to Mediawiki 1.16.2 (the latest available). Some plugins must still be updated and some configuration issues may come up. Please let us know about any problem you encounter.
18 February 2011: New server
We have now a new server! We are proudly hosted on Scales!
