For 2.40 vertex loop, edge loop, and face loop are all modal (depends on whether you are in vertex, edge or face mode) and all are activated by alt-rmb . Also none of them show a preview now.
Ok. I will update the section to 2.40. Tks.

LetterRip: Are you talking about the "Face Loop Splitting" section?
--Quartz 22:50, 14 Dec 2005 (GMT-5)
LetterRip: Never mind. I didn't realize that the Alt key was being overridden by KDE. But it does bring up an interesting question. How do we handle OS/Desktop specific issues? Would I just put a note in the section notifying users of KDE desktops to reassign the Alt key to the Meta key if their keyboard supports it?
Quartz - probably yes just put OS specific notes and warning in the documentation close to where they are relevant.
Also Quartz have a look at this page in the wiki - it is being prepared for the release notes, has a number of mesh editing tool improvements.

LetterRip: Tks. I will reference it.

I've made a few edits to the Edge and Face tools page, correcting a few errors (border and brush select hotkey is B, not Alt B) and clarifying some language and explaining things like what the tools do for a user, rather than what their underlying algorithm is, which might fly over most users' heads. Just letting you know. Hope to do more editing around here soon. Cheers :)
--Broken
Broken: Sound goods, appreciated. I didn't do anything with the "smoothing" area because I don't think it is functioning or present. The percentage dialog box dose not appear. I put warnings around the area in question.
If you have any suggestions just let me know and perhaps I could expand on them. I referenced the release notes and I think I hit the areas relevant to what I was editing but I may have missed a few. Tks. 8-)

Quartz I just wanted to commend you on the superb job you are doing on the edge and face tools pages. It is greatly appreciated.
LetterRip: Tks and appreciated. I am almost done. I will post to the project email when I have done all I can.

I am now in the process of reviewing and updating "Manual/PartII/ObjectMode" for version 2.4. Please leave me a message if you have any questions or issues.

I have updated the edit context image to show the modifier stack

Thumbnail images
Hello Quartz, there is no need to upload thumbnail images, just put the size in the image tag if thumb is too small/big for you
[[Image:Manual-Part-II-LogoFinal.png|left|thumb]]
results in
and [[Image:Manual-Part-II-LogoFinal.png|left|thumb|160px]]
results in
Note:
Imagemagick actually resizes the image server-side, so it doesn't differ in any way from your method for the bandwidth!!!

Thanks Ewout. That is good to know. I didn't realize that was happening on the server. ;-)

Excellent Job on Part II :)
I was thinking if it were not the case to group all modifiers in a single page or, at least, put all the 'minor' modifier together and leave the 'major' one in subsequent chapter of their own.
Besides, symmetrical modeling too now can be done better with a modifier.
Thanx a lot

Hi Quartz,
- I made a little change to Manual/PartII/ObjectMode, I added the detail that pressing CTRL and Shift at the same time gives a 1 degree rotation (sorry I saw your notice asking for confirmation to you after I made the change).
- Also, it seems is a bit weird to have the Selection chapter in a separate page and not the "Axis constraint" chapter. Maybe the Axis constraint could be moved to a separate page too?
- Finally, it is also strange to me to have the Selection page at the end of the Modeling chapter; maybe the ObjectMode chapter could be broken in smaller pages, something like this:
ObjectMode (kind of TOC page):
- Selection
- Grab mode
- rotate mode
- scale mode
- etc...
Thanks, kendenBest regards, 16:40, 18th April 2006
Quartz,
since you are a major contributor to the manual you might want to apply for the 'Summer of Documentation' - see the front page.

Manual/Using the 3D View: view local
Hi Quartz,
Using the 3D-View in local and globalview-state, the user (considering me as a relevant testuser) can get confused by the Blender-GUI, when he lost track in which state he is working right now. The manual should give here some more information and help.
Since hotkey=/ NumPad is a toggle the actual state must be guessed by the presence or absence of the layer buttons. I think this is far from evident and is worth a hint in the users manual. Can you please add this information maybe with two screenshots of the relevant 3D-Windowheader -section to show the visual difference that gives hint about the current view-state (local or global).

Concerning "Working" Tag
Hello Quartz
I was wondering if it's okay to remove the "Warning" tag from pages which have not been edited for several months.
As it is, I've removed it from several pages (I've kept a list though) and during this 'purge' I came across this page: Reference/Panels, which has not been edited since November 15, 2006. Is it OK to remove the "Warning" tag and, along with it, your "Note" tag?
